There's nothing as close to a time machine as a day at a SVRA event. That's SportsCar Vintage Racing for the uninitiated. This weekend marks the inagural Brickyard Vintage Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (or as native Hoosiers call it, The Track).

The SVRA consists of numerous classes of racecars from antique racers through CanAm cars and open wheel and closed wheel alike. The best part is that these races aren't parades by wealthy owners but racing. Maybe not fender rubbing racing but definitely a concerted effort to beat the other guy.

For someone my age it was spooky. The last time I was surrounded by these cars in a paddock area was back in the 1970s. The exact same cars except these are shinier (vintage racers polish the hell of of these cars).

So here's a few (dozen) photos from the paddock. I'll post more later as well.

$kaycog I don't know how to PM you but I was wondering if you could give me access to posting on Oppo. HMMMA just posted about Le Mans Classic and I was there as part of a rally and wanted to write an account. I'm usually a lurker and have sometimes commented, but have never posted.
